Thick Crust Pizza

Just a short post today. I’m sure most of you know how to make pizza already. I have a few recipes in this blog too. But I think I always make them with thin crust. So this time I’m sharing a thick crust one. Actually this type of pizza is more common in Indonesia compare to thin crust. I think one of my high school friend who owns a bakery now ever told me that he tried to sell thin crust pizza (yes, bakery sells mini pizza like this with only sausage and ketchup or something as the toppings, I’m not sure) and the customers were like “what happened to the bread? why is it so thin?” πŸ˜€ and since then he never sells thin crust pizza anymore. Maybe it’s my Asian tongue or I don’t know but I prefers thick crust too. And after looking at some thick crust pizza sold by some of my friends (some of my high school friends have their own business now), I felt like making one too. So …

Green Egg Noodle

Morning morning ^^ We had snow yesterday, but it didn’t last very long since the temperature isn’t cold enough yet. Very wet. It was like autumn the day before yesterday and in a night turned into winter. Kind of crazy. Lately I’ve been obsessed with homemade noodle, especially when I’m making mie ayam, I still haven’t found the prefect store-bought noodle for it yet. And for me personally mie ayam is all about the noodle (the chicken too of course) but if it has a good noodle even with just a simple chicken with soy sauce will do. It was a lot of work before, when I didn’t have the pasta maker yet. I had to roll the dough with rolling pin (wasn’t an easy job to get the dough as thin as I want) but since I bought the pasta maker, making noodle is so easy and quick (just a bit messy, still :P). You can see my hand cut noodle here and purple noodle here. I use the recipe from this Indonesian blog, …

Broccoli Crust Pizza

Hi hi… Wow, I can’t believe I’ve been gone for so long. Been more than 3 months since my last post. If you didn’t know yet, I’ve just had another baby girl back in February. And ever since she’s my first priority, the rest can wait. Well, more like because I’m awake most of the nights (I’m a light sleeper and often can’t go back to sleep right away after feeding session) and that cause me to feel tired constantly and my days just feel shorter. Don’t talk about baking and trying out new recipes, I don’t even have enough energy or mood to make dinner everyday. We definitely eat take away or ready food a lot since I was pregnant last year. Not fun at all. Expensive and unhealthy. It doesn’t stop there. Even if I did try new recipes, took photos, edited and ready to be posted. It still take me ages to be able to really sit and write. Psst, as an exception, I’m writing this at 4 in the morning after …

Tilapia in Spicy Sauce and Spiced Yellow Broth

There’ll be two recipes in this post. One made by me and the other one made by my younger sister. These are the recipes from when I was in Indonesia. I wrote about it in the post here. I always find it slightly tricky to cook spicy foods at home. Because my daughter can’t eat spicy food (obviously) and husband prefers something not spicy too. At the end if I want to cook something spicy it’ll only be for me. And to be honest, I don’t really like cooking for my self. So the only option is having chilli sauce ready all the time.

Pasta, Chicken and Tomato Salsa

Thanks God it’s friday! It felt like a long week for me since hubby work on a late shift. So we couldn’t spend a lot of time in the evening and have dinner together. Anyway, it has been snowing for few days here. We have enough snow to play pulkaΒ (snow sliding) and hopefully the snow will last until the weekend. It will be my daughter’s first pulka. Excited! What is your favourite activity with the little ones during winter? Do you play out a lot?

Soto Banjar

Soto Banjar is another chicken and vermicelli soup in Indonesia that comes from Kalimantan (Borneo) province. I think every island has their own soto dish. And each soto tastes different. Soto Banjar and Soto Jawa (Javanese chicken noodle soup) are my mum’s two favourite from all soto and made them often. It makes senses though, because my mum is Banjarnese and dad is Javanese πŸ˜€ I’ll try to make a complete Soto Jawa bowl next time, so you can see the difference. Because they’re very different. Actually, there’s also 1 more important thing to complete this bowl, potato cake. But I didn’t make it when I made this. Hopefully I can update a complete bowl soon when I come back from my holiday.

Mie Celor Palembang

It has been a while since I post a proper food. Too many sweets experiments πŸ˜€ This is a noodle soup from Palembang city. If you’re my reader, I’m guessing that you remember about Empek-empek is my most favourite food in the world, is also originally from this city. Anyway, don’t you think I’m getting worse at writing blog post lately? I always feel like just writing the recipe straight away (but that’s not very nice) and so I end up writing random stuffs. And for this post I don’t really have any random stuffs to share with you. So, let’s get to the recipe right away πŸ˜€ Ingredients: 500g whole prawns 100g bean sprout, boiled (didn’t have it in stock) 2 eggs 400ml (1 can) coconut milk 2 big red chillies, sliced (I skipped this) 4 garlic cloves, chopped juice from 1 lime 2 tbsp corn flour, disolve with 4 tbsp water 3 tbsp vegetable oil 2 tsp brown sugar salt & pepper   Additional ingredients to serve with: cooked egg noodle hard boiled …

Beef Pie

Hi, Everyone! I’m back, finally. Just Β a quick update about me now. Not home yet unfortunately (my stress is already at level 8 out of 10). We’re staying at my mum-in-law’s house in the middle of nowhere. Thanks God they still have internet here. And about my apartement, we still don’t know when we can go back home yet. Β Next week probably the last week I can handle my stress, otherwise I might have to check my brain πŸ˜› Anyway, I’m so happy I can go back and taking care of my blog a little bit. Thanks to my husband, he took one of our hard drive where we backed up most of our photos when we packed some stuffs at home. Today I’m sharing something simple. Beef pie. British style. I’ve made Swedish style salmon pie and chicken pie before. You can check them as well πŸ™‚ Original recipe is from Jamie Oliver’s beef pie. However, it doesn’t look like I’m using the same recipe πŸ˜€ Because I changed quite a lot of ingredients …
