Kacang Sembunyi

Kacang sembunyi

You might think it’s a funny name. Hiding peanuts, if I have to raw translate it to English. Another classic treats. I used to eat this a lot when I was little. And when I saw this post inΒ Hesti’s Kitchen, I was like “I have to make this soon!” πŸ˜›

But looking at the dough, I suddenly remember that it looks similar to wonton dough that you can get in Asian Shop. Why bother making it if I can buy it? Well, I’d have made it my self if I have pasta machine, but since I don’t, I didn’t feel like hurting my hand from rolling the dough to much and then have to roll the peanuts in the dough again. Too much work for me.

If you want to try making the dough your self, visit Hesti’s Kitchen (Indonesian). Otherwise I think my shortcut worked as well.

Btw, no exact measurements here. Depending how much you want to make or your hands get tired from rolling the peanuts πŸ˜€

Kacang Sembunyi

  • Difficulty: easy

  • 1 pack wonton dough (10x10cm)
  • peanuts
  • oil for frying
  • sugar

How to:

  • Cut the wonton dough into 6 pieces.
  • Take 1 small dough and place 1 peanut in the middle. Using a pastry brush, wet the edge with a little bit of water.
  • Roll the peanut in the dough. Set aside.
  • After you have done all the peanuts, preheat the oil for deep frying.
  • Add 2 tbsp of sugar into the hot oil, stir it a bit until slightly melt. Put the peanuts into the oil. Keep stirring until they turn into golden brown and slightly sticky.
  • Take off from the heat. Don’t put them on the kitchen paper, it might stick the the dough.
  • Repeat the process, every time you want to fry another batch, add 2 tbsp of sugar into the hot oil.

    • Belum pernah denger snack ini kah mba? perasaan dulu waktu kecil aku sering banget makan ini klo pas lebaran.. πŸ˜€

    • Hmmm.. maybe you could. But I like it with caramel like that. It’s not completely sweet… πŸ™‚

      • I was thinking that they could be a perfect part of drink snacks, you see, but then salty ones would be better than sweet.
But the caramel together with peanut must be wonderful… πŸ˜€

      • Aah.. I see… Could probably work I guess.. Well, why don’t you give it a try and tell me about it? πŸ˜‰

    • Not very creative though. It’s obvious that the peanuts are hiding inside the wonton dough πŸ˜€
