Crab Rangoon

Ah, finally I can post this recipe here. After reading Bebe’s postΒ (original recipe from Chita)in her daily blog (Indonesian), I really really want to try the recipe. For the love of seafood, I immediately look for crab meat. And I knew that it won’t be so cheap. Even in Indonesia, crabs aren’t very cheap. If you buy 2 kg fresh alive crabs, you will probably get around 500 grams meat from it. Not very much meat in it, but very tasty. I love it! πŸ™‚

So I tried the healthier version. I baked them. Did my best to make it looks good and pretty for the photo shoot. Husband took the pictures. I prepared the draft. And then, it’s “puff”.

One night husband was checking his camera in case he missed something that he hasn’t put in the computer yet. After going through more than a thousand of photos, he was sure that everything has been moved to the computer. I didn’t pay much attention there, because it has been few days since he took the photos of the rangoons. And after that he took some other photos for his blog. So I thought when he transferred his photos, he did mine too.

And then, I was looking at my drafts and checking the food photos file. I couldn’t find the crab rangoon photos. Calm. Not panic, yet. When husband home from job, I asked him where are my crab rangoon photos? He said, it should be in the file. And I said not, and I think the photos still in the camera, and he already reset the memory card. Aaaaaargh!!! Panic.

He said sorry so many times, but nothing we could do about it. He tried everything he can to find the photos in memory back up, computer, memory card. But they’re gone… Won’t comeback anymore…

A bit disappointed at that moment, because I didn’t know when I’ll have chance to make them again.

And finally, I’m writing this post about crab rangoon that I’ve been wanting to share with you. But this time I fried them. I like this version better and they look prettier too. Husband however, prefers the baked rangoons.

Last time I used canned crab meat (more expensive and didn’t taste very good). This time I used frozen crab meat (slightly cheaper and better).
