Focaccia Bread

My very first post since the blog first birthday. Yaaaaay! ^^

Foccacia is one of my favourite bread for making sandwiches and croutons. And it’s very easy to make too. There’s something about focaccia that I really like a lot compare to other bread. But I dunno what πŸ˜›

Since it’s very cold and raining all day today here, I’m just gonna write a short post. In my family, we call this kind of weather “staying-home-cuddle-and-watch-movie-together-weather” while enjoying a cup of warm tea or hot chocolate and some homemade treats. So I want to make sure to have some time to enjoy the cold weather πŸ˜€

Recipe adapted from Jamie Oliver


  • 500g all purpose flour
  • 300ml warm water
  • 12g dried yeast
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • sea salt
  • olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • dried rosemary


How to:

  1. Place the flour in a mixing bowl, add dry yeast, a pinch of salt and sugar.
  2. Add water slowly and mix until everything incorporated.
  3. Knead for about 5 minutes (by hands) or until the dough is nice, smooth and springy.
  4. Shape the dough into a ball, place it in a large bowl, cover with a plastic wrap or damp towel and let it rest for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. When it’s ready, knead the dough a bit more to let the air out from it.
  6. Shape it into a rectangle / the size of a pan you’re using.
  7. Since I’m using garlic powder and dried rosemary, I just slightly sprinkled the garlic powder and rosemary on the bread. But if you’re using fresh ingredients, you can follow Jamie’s instruction.
  8. Drizzle some olive oil and let it rest again for another hour or until doubled in size.
  9. Preheat your oven to 220Β°C.
  10. Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt and pepper and bake it for 20 to 25 minutes. The surface should be nice light brown colour.
